Key Informants Individuals with whom an ethnographer works who provides insights into the operation of their culture. It is common among contemporary anthropologists to refer to these individuals as collaborators to underscore the reliance that is placed upon their cooperation in getting to know the life ways of another people. It is not uncommon for these individuals to become life-long friends to the ethnographer.
Kindred An egocentric bilateral kinship group. The only people who share exactly the same ancestral kin within a kindred are full siblings. Kindreds have adaptive significance in providing extensive networks of related people upon whom may call in time of need. However, because they are not exclusive, one has diverse loyalities to a number of overlapping kingroups.
